This scholarship is made possible thanks to a donation by the Virgin Galactic Future Astronaut Kevin Obarski and his children, Kasin and Karson, in honor of his wife and their mother Kasey Jones Obarski. Kasey’s life brought a bright light to many people’s lives, particularly her two daughters who learned the importance of respect, humor, grace, generosity, and love. Having graduated from the University of Tennessee with a business degree, she worked for several large corporations including IBM and Transperfect Translations, as well as developing and managing several companies of her own.

Her humor, hard work and dedication to others, were always a focus in her life. She believed that STEM education to be key in helping young women develop successful careers and she personally raised $50,000 for scholarships for Galactic Unite. In honor of Kasey’s life and work, the Obarski family is continuing to provide opportunities for young women to learn, grow and make this world a better place.

This scholarship awarded two $20,000 merit based awards to first-year female college students from the State of Georgia pursuing STEM related fields at an accredited four-year college or university within the United States.
