Galactic Unite works in collaboration with Future Astronauts, team members from Virgin Galactic and The Spaceship Company and their partners, to deliver measurable and scalable initiatives – providing a wealth of powerful STEM resources for both students and teachers. The shared vision of Galactic Unite has led to numerous community outreach initiatives and collaborations, driving the creation of “Generation Galactic” – a motivated group of young people, building a better future – on Earth and beyond.
Thanks to generous donations from the Future Astronaut community we are able to provide STEM scholarships that support students all over the world. To further guide the success of these students, we provide mentoring to every young person who receives a scholarship.
The Galactic Unite mentoring program provides guidance and advice across a wide array of areas and skills - assisting the young people who will power the emerging space industry and solve our emerging global challenges. Our team also provide mentoring in communities local to Virgin Galactic and The Spaceship Company's work and to young people working with our partner organizations.
Kyle Schubert's interest in space began when his father told him about seeing WhiteKnightTwo on display at the EAA AirVenture. Kyle later became a fellow Galactic Unite Borden Scholar and is now a Virgin Galactic engineer working to bring space tourism to the world. Read more about Kyle’s mentoring experience here.
Our community outreach programs invite classrooms from local schools to visit us at our spaceship building facility in Mojave, California. Held regularly during the school year, our facility tours include an up close and personal look at our space vehicles and a chance to discuss space exploration with a wide range of company volunteers. Our team made up of engineers, maintenance technicians, pilots and even the occasional company executive provide an invaluable look into the day-to-day operations of creating the world’s first commercial spaceline.

Virgin Galactic Spacechats are virtual field trips, providing online interactive experiences and bringing ‘space’ directly into the classroom. During a Galactic Unite Spacechat every student has the opportunity to talk directly with a Future Astronaut and with a diverse range of staff from Virgin Galactic and The Spaceship Company.
We partner with the Google Science Fair and Google Connected Classrooms to deliver these virtual hangouts. Check out one of our previous Spacechats – carried out as part of the Google Science Fair Hangout on Air series.
If you are a space-hungry student, or a teacher fascinated with space travel, then we would love to hear from you. Sign up your classroom today for an opportunity to take part in a Spacechat with Virgin Galactic and The Spaceship Company – among many other incredible things, you will learn that you do not necessarily need to be a rocket scientist in order to work in the space industry.
